Délka čtení: 5 minutes. | Author: Barbora

Barefoot shoes have been gaining more and more attention in recent years. Many people are looking for a way to move more naturally, and barefoot shoes are a possible answer.

The new collection of barefoot shoes from Merrell combines comfort, functionality and attractive outdoor design.

But is barefoot suitable for everyone? And where should you actually wear it?

What is barefoot footwear?

Barefoot refers to a style of footwear that tries
to mimic walking without shoes as much as possible.

Such a shoe has a thin and flexible sole, no heel (zero drop),
wide toe and minimal cushioning.

The result is a more natural movement of the foot,
which is not restricted by the traditional construction of regular footwear.

Benefits of barefoot shoes

Barefoot footwear allows the foot to work as it was naturally designed.

It strengthens the muscles of the feet and ankles, promotes better posture and increases the perception of the terrain we move on.

Many users also report relief from back or knee pain, as the body distributes the load better when walking in barefoot shoes.

Disadvantages and risks

On the other hand, barefoot is not for everyone.

The transition from classic footwear can be challenging and without gradual adaptation , there is a risk of overloading the feet, calves or Achilles tendons .

Barefoot shoes also don't provide as much protection against rough terrain or cold.

And people with orthopedic problems should always consult a specialist before wearing them.

Where to go barefoot – and where not to go

Barefoot shoes are ideal for everyday walking around the city , walks in nature or light running.

They are suitable for the park, for city walks or as transitional shoes for vacation.

On the contrary , they are less suitable for long hikes without prior preparation , activities with sharp impacts (e.g. jumping, indoor sports) or hard concrete without gradual habituation.

Who is barefoot suitable for?

If you are looking for more ground contact, want to strengthen your feet, or are suffering from pain caused by conventional footwear,

barefoot may be a good choice.

But the key is to start slowly – first wear it for a few dozen minutes a day and gradually increase the wearing time.
