Hoka has been a great fit for me lately. And the more models I try, the more I understand why I keep coming back to them. Whether it's racing, volume or trail models, I like the combination of stability, comfort and the fact that the shoes look really good at the same time. And that's exactly what I found with the CLIFTON 11 .
I would classify the CLIFTON 11 as a shoe that you can just put on and go. Ideal for everyday running and collecting kilometers when you don't want to think about anything too much. They definitely don't lack cushioning, comfort or stability, but at the same time they don't feel as bulky as some more bulky models.
For example, compared to the BONDI 9 , the CLIFTON 11 is lighter, less bulky and feels more agile. For me, the Bondi is really a couch under my feet – perfect for slower running, regeneration or just a leisurely walk. But I enjoy the Cliftons a little more because I feel like they don't "slow me down" as much while running and I can change the pace comfortably with them.
For races or intervals, I would personally reach for another Hoka model, but for regular training, the CLIFTON 11 is exactly the type of shoe you can reach for again and again. And that, in my opinion, is their biggest advantage.
I mainly tested them on asphalt, where I think they belong the most, but they also handled lighter terrain without any problems. They certainly don't mind a forest path or some gravel. You just have to take into account that this is not an extra cushioned model. Therefore, cones or larger stones underfoot are a bit felt. But for me, it's completely fine - CLIFTON 11 are not trail shoes or downright "cushioned" shoes.
The price is also a big plus for me, and so far it looks like they could last a while. And when shoes work for running and also feel good for walking, that's always a good sign for me.
So CLIFTON 11 for me? One of those shoes that you just put on and go running. Without thinking. And that's exactly the kind of shoes I like.
