Salomon ULTRA GLIDE 3 review

Impressions after 3 months of testing

I subjected the Salomon ULTRA GLIDE 3 men's running shoes in elegant gray to intensive three-month testing, during which I really didn't spare them.

Since April, when I was preparing for the national championships and running was the ideal way to unwind, I've been testing them out on a variety of surfaces - from field and forest paths,
over a classic road, to really muddy terrain.

Not only the type of surface, but also the length and time spent in these shoes varied, allowing me to gain a comprehensive overview of their properties.

In just three months, I have run over 350 km in the Salomon ULTRA GLIDE 3

and used them for over 150 km of hiking.

I can say with a clear conscience that these shoes were not with me on vacation,

but they have undergone a proper "survival course", where they passed with flying colors.

Comfort and cushioning:

What you expect from these shoes at first glance, when you look at their massive sole, is cushioning.
And I must confirm that my expectations were met.
The wavy sole and the foam layer distribute pressure excellently,
so that your feet feel like they are in a duvet even after several dozen kilometers.

No matter how uneven the terrain you move over, the inside of the shoe is always pleasantly soft,
for which your feet will thank you with the absence of pain.
And I can confirm this even now, after all those kilometers "on the speedometer" of the tested shoes.

Like a duvet even after dozens of kilometers.

Stability and traction:

In addition to cushioning, the wavy sole with pronounced lugs also provides excellent stability,
even on wet stones or other slippery surfaces.

In this regard, the shoes surprised me very pleasantly -
they held absolutely reliably on wet and muddy terrain, which gave me confidence with every step.

Width and foot placement:

Compared to previous Salomon models, the shoe feels wider to me.
Despite this wider width, I always felt completely confident with every step.
The wider width of the shoe is also a great advantage,
especially for ultra trail races, where the foot naturally "stretches" during long runs.

For me, this is another big plus that increases comfort during long-term exertion.

Quick binding:

The traditional quick-lacing system from Salomon is a great feature.

The laces can be neatly tucked away in a clever pocket on the tongue of the shoe, where the entire lace fits easily. This eliminates the risk of the laces coming untied while maintaining a clean and aerodynamic profile of the shoe.

Breathability:

Not to mention only the positives, during testing I also came across one minor minus, which is the breathability of the shoe .

In my opinion, the upper is very durable, but unfortunately this detracts from the aforementioned breathability.
It is not extra large and in the case of an ultra trail race with higher temperatures, you will most likely feel this negative.
However, this is the only flaw in the beauty of otherwise great shoes.

Conclusion = a reliable partner for every terrain

Overall, I would rate the Salomon ULTRA GLIDE 3 shoes very positively. If you are looking for a reliable partner for running on varied terrain,
which will offer you excellent cushioning, surprising stability and plenty of comfort even over longer distances, then don't hesitate.

If you give these shoes a chance, it won't be a mistake.
