The Hoka MAFATE HIKE men's outdoor shoes are inspired by the classic flexible MAFATE running model. To make it easier for you to cope in the field, these shoes are very durable, comfortable and also well breathable. Thanks to the very durable Vibram® Megagrip rubber sole with 5 mm lugs, you will reliably stay on your feet even in more demanding terrain.
The midsole is made of dual-density EVA foam, which offers good support and cushioning with every step. You will especially appreciate the support on longer routes, when your foot is starting to get tired, and thanks to the denser foam on the inside of the shoe, it keeps your foot in the correct axis.
The upper is made of hydrophobic MATRYX® material, which is known for its exceptional durability while maintaining breathability. If you happen to tear the upper slightly in some part, this material will not tear further. The collar made of Ariaprene® foam material is ecological, functional and very comfortable. This foam fabric is extremely flexible, adapts well to the shape of the foot and eliminates any pressure points. Flexible, dynamic instep and flexibility in the Achilles area.

EVA
The name EVA stands for Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate. It is a type of copolymer that combines the properties of plastic and rubber. Sports brands use this material in the form of foam, from which they make midsoles and sometimes insoles for shoes.
The widespread use of this foam is due to its excellent properties.
- lightness → one of the biggest advantages that affects the overall weight of the shoe
- shock absorption → cushions every step forward, which your knees will especially appreciate; it can absorb shocks from your steps and thus increases comfort when running and walking (even over longer distances)
- flexibility - the EVA material is very flexible and elastic, allowing natural movement and adaptation to the foot
- durability - in general, this material is resistant to cracking and wear, but of course after really long use it can easily get crushed
- thermal insulation - keeps the foot warm in cold weather, and in summer resists hot surfaces
- water resistance - the closed cell structure of EVA foam does not absorb water, so this material is also used in outdoor shoes
- affordability - compared to advanced cushioning materials, the production of EVA foam is relatively cheaper, which is also reflected in the resulting price of the shoe
