What is the history of the Joma brand? The Joma brand starts producing sports shoes in 1965 with only eight employees, the founder is Fructoso López. The name of the brand comes from the first name of the founder's son (José Manuel). In 1969, the company Joma Sport SA is officially founded, it builds its first production of 500 m 2 , increases the number of employees to 20, and the first manual assembly line is installed. Another factory is also opened and the number of employees continues to grow up to 70 employees. Joma acquires two new semi-automatic assembly lines. In 1980, Joma exhibited its products for the first time at the ISPO trade fair in Munich.

In 1987, a new shoe suspension system (CPC Control Press Chamber) is developed. Joma is also creating a new range of football boots for which using this new technology. Joma signs its first two sponsorship contracts with Martín Vázquez (Real Madrid footballer) and Francisco (Sevilla FC footballer).

In addition, a new third factory is opened, which is currently also Joma's headquarters, located in Portillo de Toledo, Spain. With this new space, Joma has 65,000 m 2 with three automatic lines and more than 300 employees.

In 1992, Joma became the leader in the sale of football boots. Fermín Cacho achieved Olympic gold in the 1500 meters at the Barcelona Olympics sponsored by the Joma brand. At the same Olympic Games, Barcelona achieves a gold medal with Joma football equipment. Joma is gradually opening subsidiaries abroad. The quality of the teams sponsored by the Joma brand is constantly increasing, in 2000 they are also Sevilla FC, Costa Rica National Selection and Honduras National Selection.

In 2011, Joma signs a sponsorship deal with Valencia CF, which is considered one of the best Spanish football teams. Joma dominates the Spanish football equipment market with over 50% market share. After relative success, Joma entered the football market and achieved great success at home and abroad. Eventually, Joma Sport opened branches in the United States, Europe and Asia, currently represented in more than 70 countries worldwide.

Joma is a Spanish sportswear manufacturer that currently produces footwear and apparel for soccer, futsal, handball, basketball, volleyball, running, tennis and padel.
