If we dig into history, we find the first written mention of golf in 1457, when James II. The Scots banned the game as an unwelcome distraction from learning archery. However, in 1502 he overturned the ban and became a golfer himself, playing at the Old Course in St Andrews, Scotland. This golf course is considered to be one of the oldest golf courses in the world.
