The homeland of floorball is generally considered to be Scandinavia. However, few people know that floorball originated in the USA in a plastic factory. Local workers made plastic hockey sticks with which they controlled the ball as early as 1958. At that time, the newly born game was named floorhockey.
Floorball only came to prominence in Sweden in the early seventies. The first European Floorball Championship was held in 1994 in Finland.
