History of the Collonil brand
What is the history of the Collonil brand? This brand was born in Berlin. The cornerstone of success was laid in two small rooms in Köpenicker Straße, Berlin in 1909. The business began to produce "oils" and a whole range of shoe care products under the Collonil brand and began to prosper rapidly. Starting out as three founders – Karl Esslen and the Salzenbrodt brothers – they expanded and moved to new premises on Schlesische Straße. Another move followed in 1921 to Mühlenbeck, a town about five kilometers east of Berlin.
After World War II, the Salzenbrodt brothers decided to move to West Berlin, where businessmen had better conditions. As the Esslen family did not move with them, Collonil started trading as a family business, which in 1952 became Salzenbrodt GmbH & Co KG. In that year, the company moved for the last time to the company's current headquarters, a 14,000 square meter factory near Berlin Wittenau. It is here that the company still has its headquarters and production site.
Over time, other foreign branches of Collonil Vienna, Collonil France and Collonil ASP Denmark were established. Collonil has been operating internationally for a long time, even after 100 successful years in business, the brand is still considered true to its origins and "Made in Germany" is a term that indicates high quality and reliable products.
