ECONYL®
ECONYL® is a new solution for the production of regenerated nylon that focuses on sustainability. It is produced by the Italian company Aquafil. Unlike classic nylon, which is made from petroleum, this material is made entirely from recycled materials, such as discarded fishing nets, fabric scraps, textile waste, old carpets, industrial plastic waste, etc.
This waste is first cleaned and then crushed into small pieces. Next, the material undergoes a radical regeneration and purification process - it is chemically broken down into its original monomers. From these, a new polymer mass is formed, which is then spun into new ECONYL® nylon fiber.
What are the advantages of this material?
It reduces dependence on oil, saves renewable resources and reduces CO2 emissions. It can be recycled again and again without loss of quality. Even though it is a waste product, it has the same properties as new nylon - strong, durable, flexible, quick-drying and exceptionally smooth .
